On February 2nd, 2000, the universe underwent a profound change - the heavens wept with joy, the earth cried out, and the angels rejoiced. The cause - a sudden and heart-stopping email that rocked the world.

No, world peace wasn't declared, Bill Gates didn't file for bankruptcy, and Tufts University did NOT become an Ivy League school.

The newlyweds...
Our good friend Amit Khajanchi was getting married to our soon-to-be good friend Shweta Bafna! Where were you when you got the news? What did you do? If you are anything like me, and I pray to God (and the 40 million rats at the rat temple) you aren't, you picked your jaw up from the floor and phoned your closest friend... well, your closest friend who also knew Amit. "Our little Amit is all grown up," I thought as a tear ran down my face.

And what of the mysterious Shweta? An email glimpse told us all we needed to know - Amit wasn't lying! It seemed like Shweta was the one, the key to his heart, the yin to his yang, the cream in his oreo, the pearl in his oyster...you get the idea.

The wedding was only two months away (those Indians sure work fast!), and trips to India aren't the easiest things in the world to coordinate. But how does one miss the event of the century, no, no, of the MILLENNIUM? What could I do? What would YOU do? Some quit their jobs, laid down a large hunk of cash, and got the next flight to India. Some got repeatedly strip-searched by Indian authorities overseas. And some people invested heavily in the native dress code.

In the end, we all - well, most of us, anyway, made it to exotic India. And that's where the real adventure began...
